Jimmy Dean's Sausage Twirls

Jimmy Dean (package clipping, via Sally Hayes)
Ingredients
1 package any flavor Jimmy Dean pork sausage
2 cups biscuit mix
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/4 cup red bell pepper, finely chopped (optional)
1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped (optional)
Instructions
Combine biscuit mix, milk, and melted butter in a bowl until blended; refrigerate dough 30 minutes.
Divide the refrigerated dough into 2 portions and roll out each on wax paper into rectangles, about 10x7 inches.
Spread half the uncooked sausage over each rectangle of dough, topping the sausage with peppers and onions if desired.
Roll lengthwise into a log.
Wrap both logs and place in the freezer until easy to cut, about 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Cut each log into 24 pieces and place on non-stick baking sheets.
Bake 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Reheat to serve.
